Service was quick, friendly, and efficient. The portions were good, food was well seasoned, and tasted very fresh. Post meal you feel full but not queasy. The restaurant is located in a former chain branch. We have eaten at the Skowhegan location and had a similar experience. Not fine dining but a very nice Mexican restaurant for central Maine.

Travis was great, food was OK but the portions were absolutely huge. I had a huge burrito. Can't remember the name of it with three different sauces and it had to be 16+ inches long and stuffed with lettuce rice sour cream chicken, but no real flavor. I would Read the flavor of it. Three stars but everything else was fine. Meal came out quick.

These were delicious! Plenty of meat, not over fried, fresh vegetables. The waiter was very nice and attentive, he even brought some guacamole for us to have with the chips when I asked if it was hot. I will go back!

Family own restaurant with very nice staff. Good food and great drinks, good place to hangout

This is an authentic Mexican Restaurant and they have an extensive menu. I've been here three or four times and the food is always great. You will not leave here hungry. The service is good and the place is clean and well maintained.

I really never write reviews, but this was just delicious! The food was well seasoned and super good. The server was very polite, friendly, and attentive. Our food came out very quickly as well. The decor inside was also very cozy and welcoming. I had a super great experience and will certainly be returning, and definitely recommend trying this restaurant out. Delicious!

Trying this place for the first time and it was everything I hoped it would be! Augusta NEEDED an authentic Mexican family-style place and El Agave delivers. My daughter and I made the "choose your own combo." We we're both excited to see pork tamales on the menu. She matched hers with a crunchy taco and I paired mine with a shredded beef burrito. The place was hopping and I was worried the food would take a long time. Nope. The food came out hot, fresh and fast. Accompanied by creamy, perfectly spiced refried beans topped with gooey melted cheese, I could eat my weight in the beans alone. The tamale was moist, filled with tender seasoned pork covered in the perfect red sauce, it was everything my tastebuds wanted! I could go on forever about the shredded beef burrito. The meat was melt in your mouth tender, seasoned to perfection. The portion was just the right size for me. My daughter wolfed down her taco in three bites practically! She loved it! The meal started off with complimentary chips and homemade salsa. The salsa was tomatoey, garlicky, not too spicy and served chilled on the side with individual dipping bowls. The chips were warm, crispy, and salted. We had to pace ourselves so we saved room for our dinner. The restaurant itself is in a former chain establishment but you'd never know it by the warm decor, fun atmosphere and fast friendly service. Maine's Capitol city needed a place like this. When you're in the mood for authentic Mexican food check this place out!
